Criminal Justice Reform

Criminal Justice Reform

Policy solutions which I support include, but are not limited to: ensuring that the many professionals who perform their duties honorably are rewarded; reforming police training so simple situations do not escalate into violence; body cameras for all law enforcement; increased scrutiny by independent committees regarding discrimination or abuse; rewarding professionals for turning in the “bad apples”; eliminating “bad apples” from being employed as officers ever again; and a building of civility between minorities and law enforcement through education and community outreach as steps toward reconciliation. Criminal justice reform could eliminate many of the causes of unjust or excessive arrests and disparate treatment. Resolving issues of income inequality and poverty would go a long way to helping as well.
